THE OVERVIEW OBAN
Oban will be an agile endurance road racer bike that can also climb. Made of the most beautiful XCr seamless stainless steel tubes made to order from Columbus and custom carbon fork. Groupset from Campagnolo Chorus 12s DB. Fulcrum Racing 400 wheels with 700x28c Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Deda Zero100 components and Repente saddles. Will also feature Hellbender headset from Cane Creek and Syntace X-12 dropout-axle system made by Paragon Machine Works.
The bike is developed in collaboration with Scolarian. The bike will have standard geometry chart but will also make fine custom measurements against order.
The price of Oban is Rs 4.19 Lacs incl GST, excluding delivery / shipping charges.
We will take booking now for delivery in Aug/Sept 2023. (50-60 days from booking). Custom paint job will be discussed after the booking is made. XCr tubes are always in limited production at Columbus, hence difficult to obtain and not an easy tube to work on. Add to that when brazing technique is used.

XCr is an innovative, high grade, stainless seamless steel tubing set. Exclusive and unique characteristic of the new Columbus XCr set, is that the stainless steel tubes are seamless, made starting from a solid billet, machine-perforated and cold drawn countless times, to obtain the final required thickness. In this way the very high mechanical characteristics are uniform and constant in the whole round section of the tube.
Released by Columbus in 2007, the XCr stainless steel tubeset represents the most important step forward in performance steel bicycle technology of the last 25 years. XCr was the world’s first – and still today is the world’s only – cold drawn seamless stainless steel tubeset. It is made from a martensitic stainless alloy whose superior mechanical characteristics allow for very light frame weights and superior weight/stiffness ratios than either aluminum or titanium. Additionally, the XCr is able to absorb vibrations noticeably more rapidly and uniformly resulting in subtle ride quality.
The XCR tubeset is designed to offer riders the purest and most direct experience of the cutting edge of steel cycling technology.
