ADDITIONAL NOTES

POSST BIKE STEEL FRAME CARE NOTES:

SPEND SOME TIME TOGETHER.
If you want POSST to last forever, it’s important you take care of it. Not just the outside and components, the inside of the frame tubes is as important. There’s always a chance some moisture will seep inside the frame. The inside is a rust breeding environment.

WHAT WE DO.
Every frame that we produce is treated on the inside. It is an elaborate and best-in-the-known-process. When we deliver your road bike with components we also apply a liberal amount of grease to prevent oxidation at the most important contact points: water bottle cage bolt threads, head tube, headset, bottom bracket threads, bottom bracket shell, rear derailleur threads, brake bolts, seatpost, inside of the seat tube.

But, if you want POSST to last forever, it’s important you take care of it too. And it is not that complicated.

ON THE INSIDE.
It is a must at least once a year – even better would be twice a year take your bike to a mechanic, remove all the parts and apply a rust inhibitor spray to the inside of your frame. This is also the time reapply grease to all contact and thread points.

If you ride a lot in wet conditions, you should remove your seatpost once a month and turn your bike upside down for 15 minutes. Of course don’t do this in a humid room. Apply some grease to your seatpost and seat tube before you fix it back. This is all a simple diy job, don’t have to get your bike to a mechanic to do this.

ON THE OUTSIDE.
All POSST bikes are wet painted. Our frames
have an extra layer of phosphating and powder coating too. After the primer, we add the colour coat and top coats. All POSST bikes will now feature extreme scratch resistant final coat. From 2023, we use a complete GLASURIT (BASF Coatings GmbH) wet painting system

The road gravel flying from your wheel can chip paint on your frame. Our frame also feature clear paint protection films at key areas as a standard fitting. If you have chipped paint, apply some grease to the exposed area. This will protect your frame from water and humidity until you can do a proper touch-up. But then this is not something that is as alarming as it sounds, rust never gets too far because the surface has a chance to dry and frame is covered with a tough layer of coatings.

MAX RIDER WEIGHT

The maximum weight for POSST OBJECT is 120 kg.
Please note that this refers to the total weight – including bike, rider, backpack, clothes etc.

We recommend your POSST be serviced by a professional mechanic in your city or our service partner, fixmycycle.com.
Your local bike repair shop may not be affiliated with POSST and may not stock POSST specific spare parts. If you require any specific part not available with your local repair shop, give us a call, we can always courier you the part from Chennai. If both these options are not available for you, please send the bike to POSST facility at Chennai for service. Important note: always keep your bike box. Use it to pack your bike safely before sending it to us for service. For help, call us at +91-91768 33555. You pay for the cost of sending us the bike, and we pay to send it back to you after the service.

Note, initial ‘first out of box’ assembly by us or by fixmycycle.com and two scheduled service, first service within 30 days and second within 6 months from purchase is free of cost. Thereafter you have to pay for service.

CLEANING AND WASHING

Use gentle care to handle your bike and components. Never use a high-pressure cleaner gun when washing your bike or wash with a hose from a very close distance. Ensure you only use a low pressure hose to clean sensitive parts like bearings, headset, wheel hubs, etc. Use a soft brush and a bucket of water with high quality bike cleaner diluted in it to wash off all stubborn dirt from chain, cassette and chainrings. Rinse your bike with a low pressure hose to clean off all excess soap. Wipe down your bike with a soft cloth to dry all excess water. Apply a high quality bike lube to your chain. POSST uses very high quality Finland based REX wax lubes for chains. A good repair stands allow rotating the bike 360 degrees for inspecting all frame surfaces. And you can find what's stuck beneath the down tube. But never wash your bike laying it upside down, you’ll catch a lot of dirt and water inside the controls / shifters.

CARBON FORK CARE

On black colour carbon fork, due to the manufacturing and painting processes, the underlying carbon structure of our carbon forks may be visible in places which can also change depending on how the light catches the part. This has no adverse effects on the fork or the paint. When fitting or attaching parts to a carbon fork (if your forks has such provisions) always ensure that all screws are tightened to the recommended tightness (torque) as specified by the manufacturer. You will find the correct torque printed in the assembly instructions or on the part itself. When cleaning carbon fork only use a soft towel – either dry or wetted with water or mild/gentle soap.

CUSTOMISATION OF BIKE

All POSST bikes are shipped as illustrated and described – selecting alternative component configurations is not currently possible. However there is a choice of sizes of stems, handlebars, spacers.
